I took my daughter here after being referred by her physician. Dana told me that her case was severe and that, once approved by insurance, her hair would need to be shaved for the fitting. Being a concerned and caring parent, I considered it because my child’s head is misshapen, and I want the best for her. Upon doing further research, I found that shaving hair for cranial helmets is uncommon and absurd. I also read that a shaved head is not recommend due to rashes and scarring (I got this info from an ORTHOTISTS’ WEBSITE). I will absolutely not shave my baby’s hair and have found somewhere else for her to go.

I’m not sure, but her pediatrician and CT act as if they have some sort of heavily monetary influenced business relationship (commissions off helmet sales) because after reading various reviews, CT should not be the first place to send your child.

Parents, if you believe that your child may need a helmet, take them to a neurologist first and get their opinion. These people are NOT DOCTORS, they are salesman. Have your child’s neurologist refer your them out, if necessary.

I took it vary personal when she straight away told us to shave her head, instead of offering options like wetting her hair to lay it down.

I am absolutely grateful for these people. Two of my sons had to get the helmet and I’m so glad we did it. Their heads look amazing now and it’s all thanks to the Cranial Technology team. We loved when going there. Everybody was so friendly and very professional, but also so sweet and kind. Daniella at the front desk is the best. She is super sweet and my kids loved her. She was always bright and cheerful and never once rude in person or on the phone. Always answered all my questions that I would have and never seemed annoyed etc. just love her! Monica is the one we worked with the most and my kids and I absolutely loved her as well . The whole team there are amazing. One thing I loved about Monica was I always knew I was always getting very honest answers and great information and I really liked that about her. She always steered us in the right direction when we didn’t know what to do. All the exercise that they provided for us for strengthening our kids neck muscles were great. Hands down I’m so grateful for them. We are actually going to be miss them a lot!

We started coming here in November when our son was 10 months. From the beginning, our visits have been nothing short of professional and prompt. Not to mention they have a nice office with plenty of activities for the little ones. They supply diapers, wipes, and a clean environment. We were always treated so nice every time. The staff is so good with kids and so sweet. We saw at least 50-60% improvement from the doc band. Our son kept it on 23 hours a day until the end when he started to take it off lol. Highly recommend them and will use again, if needed in the future.

See update below:
This place is a scam. The staff is so poorly trained, the main woman who works there is so full of it she can’t even look you in the eyes while she is lying to your face.
I was told my daughter’s helmet would correct her in 10 weeks or less. Around week 3 the woman helping us said “yes everything is going great!” Two weeks later she told us we would need to get a second helmet but not to worry insurance would cover it. Insurance didn’t cover it the first time and wouldn’t cover it the second. In 8 weeks this helmet corrected her 1 millimeter which is horrible.
If you child is in the “Severe” category do not use the DOC Band. It is only meant to last 10 weeks or less and when there is a lot of correcting to do you will end up paying for the second helmet. There are other cranial remolding places. Specifically, look for the Starband. This helmet is made much thicker and grows with the child’s head…up to 6 months. You will save yourself time and money.

Update: 12/23/18 – While the DOC Band did not work for our daughter the company stood behind their product and did right by my family. I’m changing my 1 star to a 3 star because of this. I feel that most companies do not stand behind their products anymore but this company did and we are happy.
