10/2/20:

I started my lease yesterday, and the signing process was easy and very straightforward.

Jason took his time thoroughly explaining what my responsibilities were as a resident, but without dragging on too long. He’s been very easy to talk to and get clarification from about anything in the weeks leading up to this move, and I sense he’s the kind of landlord that will do just about anything, within reason, to help me feel at home there. I felt very at ease about this move.

I was hesitant at first about renting an apartment “sight unseen,” which I hadn’t done before, but I can hardly call that the case for me since I was able to look inside the whole apartment before handing over my cashier’s check to lease the apartment. So I only risked the initial $75 for the application to hold the apartment until the previous tenant moved out, and then my renter’s insurance costs, and it seems now that it was totally worth it.

Looking around, the grounds seem relatively clean. You just have to keep in mind that there’s a lot of plant life around, including tall trees, and areas where you have to consciously step on walking path blocks to avoid walking on uneven pavement or dirt, though I imagine I’ll get used to it soon enough. And I forgot to ask, but I don’t think there are elevators, so I would call the first floor “wheelchair-unfriendly,” and 2nd or higher would probably be wheelchair-inaccessible. The stairs were wet and dirty, and I imagine they’d stay that way, especially if it has rained recently. I can’t fault the apartment staff for that since it’s outside, where the elements are, I just have to keep that in mind when stepping into my apartment if I don’t want to track dirt or dirty water.

They’ve cleaned the stairway pretty often, as far as I can tell. Maybe sometimes they delay only because it’s expected to rain again soon. Pest control was offered to me and other residents, but besides a few pests the first month there haven’t been that many, too often. It’s usually quiet here at night, which makes it so much easier to sleep than where I was before–only 1/4 mile from the I-95. I honestly have no issues with this place. I’ve begun using a dehumidifier in my bedroom and the percentage on my hygrometer says it’s about 60% rather than about 79% like it was before, and that makes it much more comfortable. The bathroom still needs a dehumidifier, but otherwise, everything is great so far.

Almost 5 months since I signed my lease, and they’re still earning my business here. I just got my first maintenance work order done by Rafael, who’s a great, personable guy. He caulked underneath my kitchen window where there was an empty space, letting occasional pests in. Then when he asked if he could do anything else for me, I remembered that my toilet seat was loose on one side. He replaced the whole toilet seat on the spot, in about 15 minutes. I’m still very happy here.

To Jason: If anything I’ve said above sounds inaccurate, let me know and I’ll fix it promptly.

I rented an apartment at Golden Palms in Dec of 2019. I love it here. Quiet, affordable, well maintained, great management. The grounds are beautiful and clean. Any time I have a question Jason who is the property manager is always willing to help. This apartment complex is tucked away so I’m very happy I found it.
