Carlos and Shay welcome all to their small restaurant / diner / cafe. Everyday, they offer homemade empanadas, soups, and a couple of choices for meal of the day. In addition, they sell a full array of sandwiches, snacks, and small meals.

I keep coming back for their warm welcome and their outstanding spinach empanadas and homemade soup. I have tried many different soups over the years, and liked every one. Prices are inexpensive.You’ll be back, just as I keep coming back.

Very disappointed. I ordered a boneless chicken breast and received a half rotisserie chicken. Once I tried to eat the chicken, the inside was pink. I called and told them to please deliver a boneless chicken. After 45 minutes, I called to cancel since it was taking too long and my other side dishes was already cold. They issued a refund with no problem. I tossed the uncooked chicken and to my surprise, the delivery person showed up with the boneless chicken breast. I thanked them and said not to worry, that I had already requested a refund. Seemed unfair to take the chicken. Today, I called to order a protein shake and the gentleman on the phone asked for my name and said: I can’t deliver to you, and hung up on me. I tried to give the restaurant a second chance, but they were unprofessional and rude.

I was a fan for the longest time, but after what me and my receptionist had to deal with, this place can take a walk (off a cliff). I had my usual item ordered and ordered for my receptionist too, just a casual thing. Food arrives, but one of orders is just not up to par. Normally, I’d be one to let it go for a minor nuisance (mistakes happen, and I am more than understanding), but the prepared food was as if one of the steps was to leave it outside in the rain and sun for a day. So my receptionist calls them up and request a remake or refund on this.

They come back around, take the item, and give only a partial refund. But you know what, I’m busy, I have better things to do, and I’m not about to fuss over $2. Driver leaves – and by the way, Elliot, if you’re reading this, just come on in and we will hook you up with a better job – and that should be the last of it, right? Wrong. My receptionist gets a phone call from a very rude person there who states that they allegedly refunded the entire order by accident and that they want to come back the same day to pay for the amount they charged back by accident. This is a $14 order, so why they’re a mess over it, I have no idea. Furthermore, I didn’t see a refund process on my end, so I insisted we wait until Monday, and if I see it, then they can come back.

Come today, I still see nothing, but they show up apparently just to drop a receipt off… which is just odd. But then they call back demanding to charge the amount. The owner of the place, Carlos, calls up gets verbally abusive, hurling all sorts of expletives and sexist comments, with my receptionist who explains they’re not getting anything until we see the refund, but nope, Carlos decides he wants to continue to be abusive. All this over $14. How can the owner of any establishment be such disgusting human being like he is? Anyway…

Like I said, I’m normally understanding of mistakes and such, and I very seldom go out of my way to write things like this. But at this point, I won’t even consider these guys until I see a “under new ownership” sign hanging.

Highly recommend this place! My colleagues and I have been buying food there almost every day for a few past months (we work in the same building where the cafe located). Every time food is very tasty and fresh. Also portions are huge, at very competitive prices. I don’t know how they do it so well!
