I am a single mom who has been through domestic abuse. After saving for an attorney I paid Colleen $3000.oo in cash. She has not done anything. She had lied and not answered emails and text. There are several women in the same boat. She is not in good standing with the Florida Bar. Please beware. I am heartbroken from my abuse and now the one person I trusted has taken my money. I believed she would help me. Do not use her.

I paid her $3500 over a year ago. Every time I had set up an appointment to meet and file paperwork, she cancelled an hour before the appointment. Then the pandemic happened. When courts opened back up, she promised me since May 6th to send me paperwork. She has sent me a number of texts saying she’ll “do it tomorrow” up until June 11th. Now she’s completely MIA despite me sending numerous texts, voicemails, and emails. According to the Florida Bar she remains in good standing and is still practicing law. I have legit looked up to see if she has been reported missing or if there is an obituary out there for her. She did this the month prior but resurfaced saying she’d been sick. Then the month of empty promises. If you’ve seen Colleen Huott, let her know she owes me $3500 so I can a hire a lawyer who actually does their job.

*Update* The Florida Bar Grievance committee is now addressing her violation of their rules because she would not respond to them either despite her receiving the notices and even acknowledging that to me. On July 13 she claimed she requested the return of my $3500 retainer as we had a conflict of interest because I did report her to the Florida Bar on July 10. For weeks she claimed “merchant services” was taking care of the refund. Today is 10/13 and I have still not received a refund to my retainer. She has said plenty of times now in email she’d like nothing more than to return my $3500, but considering she claimed it was going to take 30 days and now it’s been 3 months and she no longer responds to my requests, lying and stealing do not seem to be a problem for this attorney. The Florida Bar said my recourse is small claims court. It’s absolutely ridiculous. Under no circumstances would I ever recommend getting tangled up with Colleen Huott. Unbelievably dishonest, unprofessional, and also a bully who tries to intimidate you over writing these types of reviews.

**A second update** According to the Florida Bar website when I first looked in December 2020, she now is no longer allowed to practice in the state of FL because of being delinquent in fees. Still have not received my retainer refund.

This lawyer disappears! You hire her and she claims to “be ill” and disappears for 9 months and do not use her for any accidents she let the insurance lawyer walk all over her! The Florida bar is currently investigating her, that is a fact and on record!

Colleen Huott is a thief and liar! I paid her a retainer and she took my money and disappeared. I hired her for a simple uncontested divorce and she said she filed my paperwork at the beginning of February 2020 and I never heard from her again. Her office phone always goes straight to voicemail, her cell phone rings once and goes to voicemail and she doesn’t respond to emails. I have not heard from her since February 2020 and it is now July 2020! I am reporting her to the Florida Bar. I have talked to multiple women that have had the same thing happen to them by Colleen. If she has done this to you please report to the Florida Bar so we can get this crook disbarred

Have worked with several attorneys over the years, both for Business matters and Divorce litigation. Colleen Huott has by far been the best. She is very knowledgeable and strong. She has accomplished more in a couple of months then my former attorney did over several years. She is honest and ethical. Highly recommend this Family Law attorney.
