After years of hearing nothing but rave reviews, we applied for the lottery and got in. We thought we literally hit the lottery. Well, little did I know that things are NOT always what they seem here. Transferring from a public school setting to this school not only set my child back academically but the overall safety became quite a concern too – no buddy system, no adult supervision in the hallways while finishing work, no nurse on staff, no guidance counselor accessible, locked gates with a call button but it’s not utilized as intended and no volunteer background checks…The gifted teacher, fine arts teachers and office staff were fantastic and welcoming and for that I am grateful. But the grade level teacher, the teachers lack of communication, teacher blatantly favoring certain students based on who bought/donated what, yelling , not allowing students to ask legitimate questions and then shaming them for it front of the class and the overall response to concerns at various levels was less than satisfactory. This is one “club” that is not nearly as great as it’s made out to be, not even a little.
